Become 1% Better Every Single Day

Small steps make big change.
If you improve one small thing each day, after a year you will be much better.
This idea is simple and strong.
It works for life and for work in technology.
Start with a plan.
Pick one tiny habit to improve.
For example, read one page of a book each day.
Or write one line of code every day.
Do this every day. Small wins build confidence.
Break tasks into tiny pieces.
If you must fix a bug, spend ten minutes to find one cause.
If you must learn a new tool, watch a five minute video today.
Tiny tasks are easy to start and to finish.
Use a short list.
Each morning write three things to do. Make the first one the easiest (I have a different opinion on this one to be honest.). Finish it first. This gives energy to do the rest. In tech, your three items could be: check emails, write one test, update one file.
Learn from mistakes.
If you fail, try a small change next time. Do not give up. As Aristotle said,
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
Small habits make excellence.
Make time for rest.
Work hard but sleep well and play. A calm mind works better with hard problems. As Mark Twain said,
"The secret of getting ahead is getting started."
Track your progress.
Keep a simple list or a small calendar mark.
Seeing marks grows hope.
After many small steps you will be surprised by big change.
One percent each day is not a race.
It is a steady path.
Start today with one tiny step. Keep going. You will get there.
